Mark Lazzaro, ’13

Mark LazzaroIn today’s job market, graduating college and landing a full-time position in their field of study is a dream come true for most students.

For UC Merced alumnus Mark Lazzaro it is a reality.

Lazzaro graduated in December 2013 and by February he had secured a full-time position as a process engineer at Scholle Packaging in Merced.

"Getting employed as a process engineer is my proudest moment,” he said.

Class of 2014 Bids Farewell, Begins Next Chapter

CommencementAt two weekend ceremonies, UC Merced conferred degrees on more than 1,000 commencement candidates who said goodbye to the campus they called home for the past four or more years of their lives.

Before receiving their diplomas, members of the Class of 2014 – from as far away as Russia and China – received words of inspiration and determination from handpicked keynote speakers.

New Center Seeks Better Ways to Communicate Climate Issues

Teenie MatlockClimate change is creating two problems. One is understanding and addressing its impact on the world. The other is convincing large swaths of the public that it is, in fact, a reality.

In an effort to spur people to take action to prevent ecological disaster, researchers with the new UC Merced Center for Climate Communications are studying the best ways to spread the message.
